If you are running Ubuntu 24.04 or higher, the installation file will no longer include the libfuse2t64 package by default. Please install it manually from the terminal:

sudo apt install libfuse2t64

If you are running Ubuntu 22.04 or 23, the installation file will no longer include the libfuse2 package by default. Please install it manually from the terminal:

sudo apt install libfuse2

Install pCloud Drive

Download and save the pCloud file distributed in AppImage format.

Right-click on the pCloud.AppImage file. Go to Permissions, make it Executable and Run.

What's pCloud Drive?

pCloud Drive is a desktop application that creates a secure virtual drive on your computer, which you can use to easily store, access and work with your files in the cloud.

To add files and folders to your pCloud Drive and be sure that they are safely stored in the cloud and available on all of your devices, you can either drag and drop your data into your virtual drive or copy it to pCloud Drive.

Important note: We strongly advise against cutting and pasting your files, in order to upload them to pCloud Drive. Drag&Drop, or copy & pasting your files is appropriate for small amounts of data. It is not recommended for large files or large volumes of files.

If you'd like to upload a large amount of data, or a large file, we recommend adding it for synchronization, and only after the file has been uploaded successfully - stopping the sync.

pCloud Drive provides a number of additional functionalities, such as integrated file sharing and synchronization through your computer. The app significantly eases your work upon performing file operations in the cloud, because with pCloud Drive you can work with your files using any software on your computer.

What is the difference between pCloud Drive and pCloud Sync?

pCloud Drive is a desktop app, which makes it possible to work with your files as if they are on your computer, but without taking space from your HDD. It works as a virtual drive, which can extend the available space on your device with up to 2 TB. Once your files are in pCloud Drive, you will easily be able to access, edit and share with others.

(pCloud) Sync is a feature in pCloud Drive. It allows you to connect locally-stored folders from your PC with pCloud Drive. This connection goes both ways, so if you edit or delete the files you’re syncing from your computer, this means that you'll also be editing them or deleting them from pCloud Drive.

If you want to sync a folder with pCloud Drive:

Right-click on the folder you’d like to sync

Select Sync to pCloud

Choose a location in pCloud Drive where you’d like to access this folder and confirm to finish

There are a couple of perks when using Sync in pCloud Drive:
For once, if you have no Internet connection, you will still be able to work with all your files offline. Once your connection is restored, pCloud Drive will update these files. That way, you can be sure that you’re always working with the latest version of your data.

In some cases, you may be unwilling to delete locally stored files, but still want to keep an up-to-date copy in pCloud. That’s when you can use pCloud Sync.

*Offline access (sync) – When you right-click on any file within pCloud Drive, you’ll see this option in the context menu. It does the exact same thing as pCloud Sync does, but for files that are stored in pCloud Drive, and not on your computer. That way, if you’re working directly from pCloud Drive but you know that you won’t be having Internet connection in the next couple of hours, you can just assign Offline access for the files you’re working on.

Are certain file types incompatible with Sync, Backup, or Uploads?

Whenever you are syncing/backing up or using Uploads for certain files, which are utilized by a system frequently, conflicted copies might occur. A conflicted copy is a second version of a file that's being modified too frequently during the transfer. You will be able to recognize a conflicted copy of your file, as it will have the same name as the original version with the attachment ".conflicted". We do NOT advise using the following file types in Sync, Backup or Uploads:

.pst, .ost, .git directories, hidden files, browser data, email client data

If your Sync/Backup or files added in Uploads contain such files, you will need to exclude them.

Right-click on the pCloud Drive icon in the system tray and choose Preferences
Note: For pCloud Drive on macOS you should choose Settings
Go to the Settings tab and select Exclusions

You have to add these files to the exclusion list before you set up your sync or backup or add files in Uploads. Otherwise, they won't be excluded. These exclusions apply to your backups, your syncs and all transfers initiated via Uploads.

If you have already started syncing/backing up or added files in Uploads:

Stop the sync or backup from your Sync or Backup settings or cancel the upload process in Uploads.
Delete these files from pCloud Drive.
Go to the Exclusions tab and add the files/folders to the list of exclusions.
Re-add the required files or folders in Sync/Backup/Uploads tabs.
